Between the delicious incorporation of sweet plantains in every meal and the sunny breeze of the Caribbean, I have fallen so deeply in love with Puerto Rico. The weather is very similar to Texas but the calm island breeze kept the walks along Old San Juan pleasant. Whenever the weather got a bit too hot, there was always a paleta or young coconut stand to stop by and grab a refreshing snack. I don’t think I can even keep track of all the kinds of mofongo and mallorcas we ate but my favorite part of Puerto Rico was definitely the refreshing beverages. As home of the Pina Colada and the Bacardi factory, it’s pretty safe to say they know their alcohol. The drink featured above is a Mojito con Parcha from Jose Enrique! The sharp tanginess of the passionfruit and sweetness from the mint made this my favorite staple drink of the vacation.
Side note: Jose Enrique is one of the BEST restaurants i’ve been to in a while! Mmm, we ordered the suckling pig, fried branzino, and churrasco steak and it felt like every bite made me a better person…*sigh*
I wanted to mirror the colorfulness of the Carribean in this outfit so I bought this strapless floral bandage dress from Francesca’s before my trip. It was great for wandering into all the artisanal shops of Old San Juan and the umbrella style skirt of this dress was the perfect mixture of feminine and fun! I paired it with sandals because the cobblestone roads of Puerto Rico were a bit of a challenge for heels. Along with small bracelets I stacked on my wrist, I wore the cutest pair of dainty tassel earrings. The light blue tassel brought out some of the subdued colors in my dress and resembled the lightheartedness of the Puerto Rican culture.
Thanks for stopping by!
