The Perfect LBD for NYE

Dec 29, 2016 · by Kara Tapangan

Dress: NBD | Faux Leather Jacket: Francisca’s Showroom | Heels: Steve Madden | Clutch: Sole Society

Sunglasses: Le Specs | Earrings: Trina Turk

I am weirdly fascinated with New Years Eve. I just love the idea of it. Getting dressed to the nines, watching the Time Square ball drop, and welcoming the new year with endless champagne and a kiss. There’s just something so romantic about the year coming to an end and an opportunity to start fresh the next morning.

Normally I go with a sparkly outfit. And by sparkly, I mean, sparkles everywhere. But this year is different. In 2017, I turn 25 *gasp*. So in honor of my 1/4 century of life, I have selected an alternative to the obvious sparkles.

This year I decided to trade my glitz & glam for leather & lace. I love the juxtaposition of feminine details paired with masculine pieces and this outfit does just that. The lace trimming and sexy detailing on the back of my NBD dress paired with the rugged, laid-back feel of my faux leather jacket had me feeling all kinds of edgy! Currently, my dress is sold out so I tagged a couple of similar alternatives below. If you already have a favorite LBD, feel free to throw a leather jacket on and you’re golden!

Pro tip: if you’re rocking a backless dress like this and don’t want to go out and buy pasties, try fabric bandaids. They do the job and are affordable!

My faux leather jacket has actually been a regular on my winter line up lately. I snagged it while I was back home in The Valley and happened to stop by the cutest boutique. After one quick sweep around Francisca’s Showroom, I knew that I was going to be a regular there. So if you’re looking for a new place to shop in McAllen, you gotta stop by!

As much as I would love to be taking on the town with a cocktail at hand, I’ll probably be cozied up on the couch watching a marathon of rom-coms with my mom and sister! What are your plans for the big night?

No matter what they are, be sure to have a fun and safe NYE. I’ll see y’all in 2017!
